The sixth, and supposedly final, installment in the immensely successful 'PARANORMAL ACTIVITY' franchise. It tells the story of a family, that discovers a mysterious camera, in the new house they move into, that allows them to see the 'paranormal activity' happening in their home. It was directed by, first time feature film director, Gregory Plotkin; and stars a cast of mostly unknowns (once again). The film was written by a team of five writers, including Jason Harry Pagan and Andrew Deutschman; who also co-wrote another found footage flick, from earlier this year, called 'PROJECT ALMANAC'. This is the first movie, in the series, to be released in 3D; and it also has a record quick VOD release, for the franchise, 17 days after it drops below 300 theaters (as part of a new studio experiment). I'm not a fan of the series, at all, and this is my least favorite one.
The story is set in December of 2013; which is two years after the events of the last film. It revolves around a married couple, named Ryan (Chris J. Murray) and Emily Fleege (Brit Shaw), and their young daughter, Leila (Ivy George). The family moves into a new house; and their joined by Ryan's brother, Mike (Dan Gill), and a family friend, named Skyler (Olivia Taylor Dudley). While searching through things, in the new house, Ryan and Mike discover an old camera; which has decades old video on it, from previous people who lived there. They also discover it allows them to see the 'ghostly activity' happening there; which begins to possess Leila.
I was never impressed with the original movie; like a lot of people surprisingly were (although it seems to have lost a lot of it's credibility now). I always thought it was unoriginal and gimmicky. I thought the same thing about all of it's sequels; which aren't a lot worse than the original (overrated) hit. This installment is definitely the worst of the series; but once again, it's not a lot worse. It's painfully boring, until the end (just like all the others), and it's filled with cheesy dialogue and horrible acting (just like all the others as well). Once again, fans might like it; but all other viewers will have to suffer through it.IMDB
